The National Pharmacy Debate Competition (NPDC) is an annual event organized by the Malaysia Pharmacy Student Association (MyPSA). This year, MyPSA is collaborating with International Medical University Malaysia (IMU) and became the host for this year event.
The aim of this programme is to provide students with a useful experience in debating where it allows students to learn proper public speaking techniques and how to speak in front of people appropriately. In addition, it was also help to increase students' confidence to communicate with other people and be proficient in voicing opinions.
The 6th National Pharmacy Debate Competition (NPDC) 2020 was held for four days starting on the 8th of October 2020 until the 11th of October 2020 through ZOOM Cloud meeting as the main platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Wan Safraa Nasuha binti Wan Haron (RX17), Puteri Faten Fariheen binti Megad Mohd Nizar (Rx17) and Nur Alaina binti Mohamad Asri (Rx18) were three UiTM Pharmacy students who represent UiTM debate team this year. There were a total of eight debate sessions conducted in a day and this event followed the Asian Parliamentary style as the format of the debate. Preliminary Round 1,2 and 3 were conducted on 8th October 2020 until 10 October 2020. In these three-preliminary round, each team will accumulate their marks and the best four teams with the highest mark are qualify to entering the semi-final round.
The last day of competition, which was held on 11th October 2020, will be the semi-finals and the final round of the competition. Before the semi-final round begins, a lucky draw for the participants took place to enliven the atmosphere. The winner of semi-final round will face each other in the final round.
As a result, UiTM debate team manage to go until the semi-final round and was ranked 3rd/4th overall. In addition, Wan Safraa Nasuha binti Wan Haron (RX17) from UiTM debate team was also crowned as the top 10 best speakers in this debate event. For the overall winner of 6th NPDC 2020 goes to IIUM debate team.
