This year’s MyPSA National Pharmacy Research Competition (NPRC), which was held in AIMST University, Kedah saw competitors from nine universities including Universiti Sains Malaysia,
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa among others. With the theme “Renaissance: The Art of Creative Thinking”, the 2nd MyPSA National Pharmacy Research Competition (NPRC) was aimed to cultivate and instil awareness and importance of continuous research among pharmacy students. Additionally, it serves as a recognition platform for student’s effort in research endeavours. The national competition was divided into three broad categories based on research areas; Category 1: Pharmaceutical Technology/ Military Pharmacy, Category 2: Clinical Pharmacy/ Pharmacy Practice/ Social Pharmacy and Category 3: Pharmacology/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry. UiTM Pharmacy was represented by five final year students, Muhammad Nasrulhaq bin Nasharuddin, Nik Haizam binti Nik Mat, Amalina Suraya binti Sahar, Nor Akma binti Saleh and Aimi Husna binti Ali. Apart from poster and oral presentations, students also attended a fun ice breaking session, a bioequivalence workshop and a Gala Night Dinner. Muhammad Nasrulhaq bin Nasharuddin, an outstanding UiTM representative who was named the 1st runner up for the Pharmacology/ Pharmaceutical Chemistry Category said competing in NPRC and the preparation leading up to the event helped him shape up his communication and critical thinking skills. He also said that the event provided a great platform for students to share with their peers and community their research findings. Nik Haizam Nik Mat, another first runner for the Pharmaceutical/ Military Pharmacy shared that aside from polishing her soft skills, she was exposed to a lot of new knowledge in various research areas. It is hoped that UiTM students would excel in future academic events just like this one. We are indeed very proud of their achievement!
