This year, the Charity Bureau of Society of Pharmacy Students (SOPHYS) of UiTM Puncak Alam has conducted the annual Pharmacy Community Outreach (PHARMACORE) in virtual mode. The programme consists of poster making and e-fundraising events. Due to the current pandemic, the poster's theme is “The Importance of Vaccines in the Community”. This programme aimed to raise awareness and provide knowledge to the orphans about the benefits of vaccines. Two orphanages selected for this charity programme are Rumah Kasih Harmoni, Kg Paya Jaras Hilir, Sungai Buloh and Rumah Bakti Dato’ Harun, Hulu Kelang, Ampang.
In the poster making event, participants have the opportunity to work with a maximum of four persons in a group. The submission date of the poster was from 20th September 2021 until 3rd October 2021. Two best posters were selected to be given to the orphanages. The posters were assessed through the accuracy of facts, creativity and content suitability of the theme.
The e-fundraising event was conducted on 4th October 2021 to 18th October 2021. The funds were collected through online donation from students and the public. All the donations received from the fundraising event were given to the orphanages to financially support in their day-to-day expenses. This event managed to donate a total of RM2,200.
To summarize, the programme ended well. It was a significant programme because of PHARMACORE 2021 activities relating to volunteerism and promoting harmony as well as good health.
