The Society of Pharmacy Students (SOPHYS) recently held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, January 13, 2023. Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held virtually for the third consecutive year, utilising the Webex platform. The primary purpose of the AGM was to elect the new President and Vice President of SOPHYS as well as introduce the new SOPHYS 2022/2023 main board. During the meeting, the outgoing representatives from the SOPHYS 2021/2022 board provided a recap of the events and initiatives they carried out during their tenure. The AGM serves as an important platform for SOPHYS to review its achievements, acknowledge the departing board members, and welcome the new leadership team.

The main aim of this event was to provide a platform for upcoming leaders to showcase their skills and potential. By doing so, it is expected that SOPHYS, the faculty, and UiTM will benefit in the long run. The event also serves as an opportunity for students to meet their new leaders, who will oversee the organisation's activities and charitable initiatives. Each president and vice-president had the opportunity to present their manifestos during the event, which helped to enhance their confidence and public speaking skills, thereby contributing to SOPHYS' overall mission of nurturing future leaders with exceptional communication and leadership skills. Overall, the event provides a significant opportunity for leadership development and community building within SOPHYS.
