In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world has faced numerous challenges, and the education sector has not been spared. Nevertheless, the Faculty of Pharmacy, UiTM Puncak Alam recently had its first in-person visit to another institution since the pandemic began to subside. The visit was held on March 16, 2023, at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPSF), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
The visit included two types of activities: academic and scientific activities, and sports and recreational activities. The primary objective of the visit was to provide UiTM students with exposure to the learning and research environment of PPSF USM.
To achieve this goal, the students participated in a soft skills strengthening workshop conducted by the USM teaching staff. They also had the opportunity to tour the laboratories of the institution. The academic visit was a great success, and the UiTM students gained invaluable experience from their interaction with USM's faculty and staff. Through the workshop, the students were able to hone their soft skills, which are essential for their future careers as pharmacists. The visit to the laboratories gave the students a chance to become familiar with the equipment and facilities that USM has to offer. The visit was significant in several ways. Firstly, it marked a crucial step towards normalcy in the education sector after the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted in-person learning for an extended period. Secondly, the visit allowed UiTM students to expand their knowledge and gain practical experience in their field of study. Finally, the visit fostered closer ties between the Faculty of Pharmacy of UiTM and PPSF USM, paving the way for future collaborations and partnerships. In conclusion, the academic visit to PPSF USM was a significant milestone for the Faculty of Pharmacy of UiTM. The visit not only provided UiTM students with exposure to the learning and research environment of PPSF USM but also marked a significant step towards normalcy in the education sector. We look forward to seeing more fruitful collaborations between UiTM and PPSF USM in the future.
