The 16th Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association (MyPSA) National Pharmacy Sports Carnival (NPSC) 2023 was successfully held from March 17th to 19th at the main campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang. The event was organised by Persatuan Sains Farmasi (PSF), USM, in collaboration with the Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association (MyPSA), with the aim of bringing back the spirit of healthy competition among participants and regaining their enthusiasm for sports after two years of online activities due to the pandemic crisis. The event saw the participation of 20 universities from across Malaysia. UiTM was one of the universities that participated in the carnival, with a contingent of 53 students from all four current batches. The UiTM team participated in a range of events, including petanque (F and M teams), swimming (4 x 50M freestyle relay F, 50M breaststroke F and 50M butterfly F), futsal F, netball, mobile legends, badminton (double M and double mix), chess (single M), PUBG, track (100M F, 400M M, 200M M, and 4 X 100M F), volleyball F, tennis (Single M) and basketball F. UiTM achieved remarkable success in the carnival, garnering a total of nine medals consisting of five gold, three silver and one bronze. Their efforts were rewarded, as they secured fourth place overall. This is an impressive accomplishment for UiTM, and the university should be proud of its students for their outstanding performance in the carnival.
The NPSC 2023 was not just a sporting event; it was also a great opportunity for students to socialise and connect with peers from different universities. The event was a platform for students to exchange ideas and learn from one another. The carnival provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage in healthy competition and understand the significance of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. The successful organisation of the 16th MyPSA National Pharmacy Sports Carnival is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the organisers, participants, and volunteers. The event was a resounding success, and it is hoped that such events will continue to be organised in the future. The carnival provided students with a platform to showcase their sporting abilities and encourage a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
